Citizen CL-S700III / CL-S703III Industrial Label Printer

The Citizen CL-S700III is a 4-inch industrial label printer for businesses that print continuously but don't need — or want to pay for — a top-tier industrial machine. It prints thermal transfer at 203 dpi — or 300 dpi as the CL-S703III — and includes Ethernet and USB as standard, so it goes straight onto the network without an add-on module.

Where it fits

  • Production and despatch — product, carton and pallet labels printed through the working day
  • Warehouse operations — steady daily volume where a desktop printer would wear out within a year or two
  • Labels that must last — thermal transfer with the right ribbon survives months and years, unlike direct thermal

If you print a few dozen labels a day, a desktop printer is the more sensible purchase. The CL-S700III earns its place when printing is constant and the printer needs to keep going.

Which version?

All four models share the same core: 4-inch width, thermal transfer, a colour touch display, Ethernet and USB. The CL-S700III prints 203 dpi; the CL-S703III prints 300 dpi for small labels, fine text and 2D barcodes. The R versions (CL-S700IIIR, CL-S703IIIR) add a peeler and internal rewinder; the standard versions are tear-off.

Why an industrial printer

Industrial machines are built around duty cycle and serviceability: they take larger label and ribbon rolls, so there are fewer changes per shift, and the printhead and platen roller are wear parts designed to be replaced rather than reasons to buy a new printer. A desktop unit used at industrial volume reaches end of life quickly; an industrial unit serviced properly stays in production for years.

Thermal transfer means choosing a ribbon

Match the ribbon to the label material, not to the printer. Paper labels take wax, coated paper takes wax-resin, and synthetic labels need resin — wax will not bond to a synthetic label and wipes off with a thumb.

All CL-S700III and CL-S703III printers below are CE certified and covered by manufacturer warranty. Matching labels and ribbons are available from stock.
