The Datalogic Magellan 9900i is a multi-plane (bi-optic) in-counter barcode scanner with a low 6.8 cm / 2.7 in tower for high-throughput assisted and self-checkouts. The low profile frees space at the checkstand for touchscreens, payment terminals and receipt printers and helps meet accessibility (ADA) requirements. Its QuadVision™ platform – a multi-core IMX8 processor with four cameras (two horizontal, two vertical) – captures several high-resolution images of every item and reads 1D, 2D, GS1 DataBar and Digimarc® codes in the largest scan volume in its class; an optional Top Down Reader adds a sixth reading side. This version, 99111001000-000100, is the medium scanner (39.9 cm) with a fixed produce rail with ScaleSentry™ and shelf mount, supplied as the scanner only – interface cable and power supply are ordered separately.
📦 What's in the box – 99111001000-000100
- ✅ Datalogic Magellan 9900i scanner – multi-plane in-counter 1D/2D imager (QuadVision) with low 6.8 cm tower, medium platter with fixed produce rail and ScaleSentry, shelf mount
- ❌ Interface cable – not included

⚠️ No interface cable and no power supply are included. Please order the cable for your system separately: the Datalogic OEM (IBM) USB POT cable 90A052276 (4.6 m) for IBM/Toshiba POS terminals (it also powers the scanner), the Datalogic USB cable 90A052135 (Type A, external power, 4.5 m) for a standard PC or POS USB port, or the Datalogic RS-232 cable 90A052121 (9-pin, 4.5 m) for a serial port – with the USB or RS-232 cable please also order: Datalogic power supply 90ACC0194 (12 V) + power cord (EU 6003-0940).
💡 Want a sixth reading side? Datalogic Top Down Readers for the Magellan 9900i (17.8 / 22.8 / 31.5 cm – 90ACC0417 / 90ACC0418 / 90ACC0419, also with integrated customer-facing reader) add 20% more scan volume – ask us for availability.
Key Features
- QuadVision™ imaging – a multi-core IMX8 processor and four cameras (two horizontal, two vertical) capture several high-resolution images per scan, so even difficult and damaged 1D/2D barcodes, Digimarc® codes and GS1 Digital Link codes are read first time in the largest scan volume in its class.
- Loss prevention, AI-ready – ScanSentry™ detects items crossing the platter without a barcode read and alerts the POS; the produce rail with ScaleSentry™ flags items lying outside the platter; integrated EAS antenna support for Checkpoint and Nedap plus a Sensormatic deactivation controller; color Top Down Readers enable AI workflows such as produce recognition.
- Low 6.8 cm / 2.7 in tower – the popular low-profile Magellan form factor gives more freedom to place POS or self-checkout screens, payment terminals and printers and suits seated cashiers and ADA-compliant lanes; three chassis lengths, shelf or flange mounting (conversion kits available) and capacitive touch buttons with smooth, easy-to-clean surfaces.
- Optional Top Down Reader – available in 3 heights (17.8, 22.8 and 31.5 cm), it expands the scan volume by 20% for an industry-unique 6-sided view of every item; versions with an integrated customer-facing reader let shoppers scan phones and coupons while the cashier keeps scanning.
- Connected checkout – multi-interface RS-232 and OEM (IBM) USB Plus Power, one Ethernet port as standard, two powered USB Type A host ports, powered RS-232, remote scale display and EAS controller ports; optional customer-facing reader for phones and coupons.
- Open, manageable platform – embedded Linux; works with Windows 10, Linux and Android POS systems; OPOS/JavaPOS utilities, free Aladdin configuration software, Magellan SDKs and remote management (WMI, MBeans, IBM Director, Wavelink Avalanche); 1-year factory warranty.
Ideal Applications
- Supermarket and grocery checkout lanes (installed in the counter)
- Self-checkouts and assisted checkouts
- Checkstands with limited space or accessibility (ADA) requirements, thanks to the low tower
- Hypermarkets and other high-volume retail checkouts
- Loss-prevention projects with ScanSentry and AI-based item recognition
- Reading mobile coupons, loyalty cards and GS1 Digital Link codes
