This guide takes a new Datalogic Memor K20 or Memor K25 from the box to scanning into your own apps: cards, battery, first charge, switching on, Wi-Fi, the keyboard wedge and updates. Datalogic covers both models in one user manual, so the steps are the same. The only extra step on the K25 is the SIM card for 4G.

    You'll need
    • The Memor K20 or K25 with its battery pack (both in the box)
    • A way to charge it: the Datalogic USB-C cable (94A050044) with a Datalogic power supply (94ACC0383), or the Memor K20-K25 Single Slot Dock (94A150137). These are sold separately.
    • Memor K25 only: a nano SIM card with a data plan
    • Optional: a microSD card
    • Your Wi-Fi network name and password
    • At least 3.5 hours for the first charge

    Before you start

    Check the box

Datalogic packs the terminal, a rechargeable one-piece battery pack, a quick start guide and a safety and regulatory leaflet. There is no charger or cable in the standard box. Keep the original packaging: Datalogic does not cover damage caused by poor packaging when a unit goes back for service.

    K20 or K25?

Both models have the same 4-inch touch screen, backlit 24-key keypad, scan engine, battery and Android 13. The Memor K20 (946200001) is Wi-Fi only. The Memor K25 (946250001) adds 4G LTE for mobile data, a nano SIM slot and GPS. See Memor K20 vs K25 for the full comparison.

    Know the keys and lights

    • Front: touch screen, Back, Home and Recent keys, Power, the front scan key and the 24-key keypad.
    • Sides: a left and a right scan trigger, plus a programmable side key that Datalogic sets up as push-to-talk (PTT).
    • Top: the scan window. Bottom: the contacts for the dock.
    • Back: camera with flash, battery cover with its sliding switch, speaker and the NFC area.
    • The LED at the top left of the screen shows charging status and good reads.

Insert the SIM and microSD card

Both card slots sit under the battery. Fit cards with the terminal switched off.

    1. Slide the battery cover switch to the unlock position (to the right) and lift the cover off from the top.
    2. Lift out the battery if it is already fitted.
    3. Push the microSD card into the left slot with the printed side facing up.
    4. Memor K25 only: push the nano SIM card into the right slot with the printed side facing up. The K20 has no SIM slot.
    5. Fit the battery and the cover again as described in the next step.

Datalogic's specifications list microSD cards up to 512 GB.

    Insert the battery

    1. Put the battery pack in top end first and press it into place.
    2. Put the battery cover on bottom end first and press it down.
    3. Slide the switch to the lock position (to the left).

Use only Datalogic batteries made for the Memor K20-K25 (4,850 mAh, part 94ACC0420). If you use the protective boot (94ACC0418), slide the terminal into it bottom end first.

    Charge the battery

The battery leaves the factory less than half charged. Charge it for at least 3.5 hours before first use, with the USB-C cable and power supply or in the Single Slot Dock. Using the terminal while it charges makes charging much slower, and it may get warm. That is normal.

LED (top left of the screen) Meaning
    Red, steady Charging
    Green, steady Fully charged
Red, flashing Charge fault. See troubleshooting.

    Using the Single Slot Dock

    • The dock needs a Datalogic power supply (94ACC0383) and the USB-C cable (94A050044), both sold separately.
    • Place the terminal in the dock with the screen facing you and the scan window at the top. To take it out, hold the dock down and lift the terminal straight up.
    • Use the dock adapter when the terminal is bare. Take the adapter out when the terminal is in its protective boot.

Spare batteries charge in the 4-Slot Multi-battery Charger (94ACC0419), which needs its own power supply (94ACC0197) and a regional power cord. For the fastest charging, Datalogic recommends a room temperature of 20 to 35 °C. In a hot, enclosed place the battery may stop charging to protect itself.

Switch on and finish the setup

    1. Hold Power for at least 4 seconds until the terminal starts.
    2. Follow the Android setup screens for language, network and Google account. Both models ship with Android 13 and Google Mobile Services (GMS).

A short press of Power puts the terminal to sleep and wakes it again. To restart or switch off, hold Power until the menu appears and tap Restart or Power Off.

    Tip

Setting up several terminals? Datalogic's Scan2Deploy Studio creates configuration barcodes that set up a terminal when it scans them, and the Memor K20-25 also supports Android Enterprise QR code enrolment and zero-touch for device management systems. Ask your IT team before you complete the setup screens if the terminal should be enrolled.

    Connect to Wi-Fi

    1. Open Settings › Network & Internet › Internet and switch Wi-Fi on.
    2. Tap your network, enter the password and tap Connect.
    3. For a hidden network, tap Add network, enter the network name (SSID), choose the security type and tap Save.
    4. If your IT team has a Wi-Fi QR code, tap the QR code icon in the Add network section and scan the code. Datalogic's Android Wi-Fi QR Code Generator creates these codes.

The Memor K20 and K25 use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) on 2.4 and 5 GHz. Extra options for warehouses with many access points, such as the band, power save and roaming thresholds, are under Settings › Datalogic Settings › Wi-Fi.

Mobile data on the Memor K25

With a SIM card fitted, the K25 connects to your operator's network for mobile data. The K25 uses 4G for data only. If there is no connection, check that mobile data is switched on and ask your operator for the access point name (APN) settings.

Set up scanning into your apps

Datalogic's keyboard wedge types every scanned barcode into the text field that has focus, so most apps work without changes. All scanner options are in Settings › Datalogic Settings › Scanner & Decoder.

    1. Open a notes app or any app with a text field and tap the field.
    2. Point the scan window at a barcode and press the front scan key or one of the side triggers. The LED lights red while the scanner reads.
    3. On a good read the data appears in the field. If the good-read signals are switched on, the terminal also beeps and the LED turns green.
    4. If nothing appears, open Scanner & Decoder › Wedge and check that Enable Keyboard Wedge is on.

Add Enter or Tab after each scan

Many stock and order apps need an Enter after each barcode to confirm the entry, or a Tab to move to the next field.

    1. Open Settings › Datalogic Settings › Scanner & Decoder › Formatting › Standard Formatting.
    2. Tap Label Suffix.
    3. Tap Add special and choose the special character for Enter (or Tab) from the list and confirm.
    4. Scan a barcode in your app to check the result.

If your app shows wrong or missing characters

Under Wedge, Keyboard Wedge Input Mode offers three ways to send data: Text Injection, Key Pressure (the barcode is sent as key presses) and Commit Text. If an app ignores the Enter or drops characters, try another mode. Apps written for Datalogic devices can use the Intent Wedge instead; follow your app supplier's instructions. To undo your changes, tap Reset configuration at the bottom of a settings screen.

    Keep the terminal updated

    1. Charge the battery above 20 %, or connect the terminal to power.
    2. Open Settings › System › System Update.
    3. Tap Remote Update and then Check for update. Install the update if one is offered. The terminal restarts.

Datalogic publishes Memor K20-25 firmware and release notes on its developer portal. In January 2026 the latest release was Android 13 version 1.03.08. Datalogic says the Memor K20-25 is upgradeable to Android 15. The user manual and quick start guide are on the technical documents page.

If something goes wrong, see Memor K20 and K25 troubleshooting, or browse all Memor K20 guides and Memor K25 guides. The terminals are in our shop as the Memor K20 and the Memor K25.
