The Brother TJ-4005DN is a 4-inch direct thermal industrial label printer for warehouses, distribution centres, e-commerce and retail operations that print large numbers of shipping and stock labels. Because it prints directly onto heat-sensitive labels, it needs no ribbon – there are no ribbons to buy, store or change. It prints 203 dpi labels up to 107 mm wide at up to 152 mm/s, takes label rolls up to 203 mm in diameter on cores from 25.4 to 76.2 mm and connects via USB, USB Host, RS-232 serial and Ethernet as standard, while ZPL2, EPL2 and DPL emulation makes it easy to integrate into existing systems. This version, TJ4005DNZ1, is the direct thermal-only model of the TJ series – a cost-effective choice for shipping, picking and stock labels that do not need to last for years.

Key Features
- No ribbon needed – direct thermal printing keeps running costs and handling to a minimum: just load a label roll and print.
- Built for industrial workloads – a compact printer only 248 mm wide that holds 203 mm label rolls on cores up to 76.2 mm, backed by Brother's 5-year warranty.
- 203 dpi at up to 152 mm/s – clear barcodes and text across a 107 mm print width, with labels up to 25.4 m long.
- Flexible media handling – direct thermal media 20–120 mm wide and 0.06–0.28 mm thick: continuous, die-cut, black-mark, notched and fan-fold, with gap and black-mark sensors.
- Simple to operate – four icon status LEDs and a power LED show the printer status at a glance, with just two buttons (power and feed).
- Connected as standard – USB 2.0, RS-232 serial and 10/100 Ethernet, plus USB Host for a keyboard, scanner or flash drive in stand-alone mode; the optional user-installable Wi-Fi module (PA-WI-002) adds wireless networking.
