The Datalogic PowerScan PD9531-DPM is a rugged corded 2D area imager from Datalogic's PowerScan 9500 series, designed specifically for reading direct part marking (DPM) codes – laser-etched, chemically etched, inkjet-printed and dot-peened marks on metal and plastic parts – as well as small printed labels. Its high-density optics resolve codes down to 2.5 mil (1D) and 4 mil (2D), the housing is sealed to IP65 and withstands 50 drops from 2.0 m onto concrete, and the multi-interface electronics connect via USB, RS232 or keyboard wedge, depending on the cable. The scanner is backed by a 3-year (36-month) Datalogic warranty. This version, PD9531-DPMK1, is supplied with a coiled USB cable (K1 kit), ready to plug in and scan.

Key Features
- Made for direct part marking – reads laser-etched, chemically etched and inkjet-printed codes as well as dot-peened Data Matrix codes directly on metal, plastic and other shiny or matte surfaces.
- High-density optics – an 864 × 544 sensor resolves 1D codes down to 2.5 mil and 2D codes down to 4 mil; DPM codes are read from contact to about 4–5 cm and printed codes up to about 15 cm.
- Omnidirectional reading – reads 1D, stacked, 2D and postal codes in any orientation and can also capture images (BMP, JPEG, TIFF).
- Clear good-read feedback – Datalogic 3GL™ (Three Green Lights), the Green Spot projected onto the code, dual good-read LEDs and a loud, adjustable beeper confirm every read.
- Motionix™ motion sensing – the scanner detects the operator's movements and automatically switches to the right scanning mode.
- Soft white illumination – the soft-pulsed white light produces fewer flashes and is gentle on the eyes during scan-intensive work.
- Built for the shop floor – IP65 sealing against dust and water jets, 50 drops from 2.0 m onto concrete and an operating range of −20 °C to 50 °C.
- Multi-interface electronics – USB, RS232 and keyboard wedge on board: simply choose the matching PowerScan 9500-series cable – USB straight or coiled, RS232 or PS/2 keyboard wedge.
- Free configuration tools – set up the scanner with the Datalogic Aladdin utility and integrate it using the OPOS / JavaPOS utilities.
Ideal Applications
- Direct part marking – laser-etched, dot-peened and inkjet-printed codes on metal and plastic parts in automotive, electronics and metalworking
- Manufacturing shop floor – work-in-process and sub-assembly tracking
- Component tracking and parts traceability
- Quality control and line inventory control
- Time and cost analysis, machine replenishment and configuration
