The Honeywell Xenon Ultra 1962g is a premium cordless Bluetooth® 2D handheld barcode scanner and the successor to the Xenon XP 1952g. It reads damaged, poorly printed and low-contrast barcodes as well as codes on phone screens at the first attempt, frees associates from cables around the POS and conveyor, and every model has a disinfectant-ready housing. The same scanner platform is available with a long-life Li-ion battery or a battery-free super-capacitor, each with contact or wireless (Qi) charging. This version, 1962GSR-2USB-WCBF, uses the Standard Range (SR) scan engine for everyday scanning and is the battery-free version – its super-capacitor fully charges in under 60 seconds with a power supply or a powered USB port and delivers about 450 scans per charge. It is supplied as a complete USB kit with the presentation charge and communication base with wireless (Qi) charging and a 2.7 m USB cable – everything you need to start scanning cordlessly at your PC or POS.
📦 What's in the box – 1962GSR-2USB-WCBF
- ✅ Honeywell Xenon Ultra 1962g scanner – Standard Range (SR), black, disinfectant-ready housing
- ✅ Super-capacitor instead of a battery (battery-free) – contactless version for wireless charging, charges fully in the base in under 60 seconds with a power supply or a powered USB port (under 4 minutes on a standard USB port) and powers about 450 scans per charge; replaceable module: Honeywell SUPCAP-SCN11WC
- ✅ Presentation charge and communication base with wireless (Qi) charging (Bluetooth base) – Honeywell CCB-U00-G with contactless charging cup 1962G-WC-CUP – charges the scanner wirelessly without exposed metal contacts, holds it upright for hands-free presentation scanning and sends the scanned data to your PC or POS
- ✅ USB cable – straight, Type A, 2.7 m – connects the base to your PC or POS and powers it
- ❌ Power supply – not included (not needed for USB: the base is powered via the USB cable)
💡 Easy pairing: connect the base to your PC or POS with the USB cable, then place the scanner in the base – it links to the base automatically. The base charges the scanner whenever it sits in it and transmits the scanned data via USB (RS232 and keyboard wedge are possible with other Honeywell cables). Up to 7 scanners can be linked to one base, and the range is up to 100 m line of sight (Class 1). Using the pairing barcodes in the Honeywell user guide, the scanner can also be paired directly with a Bluetooth-enabled PC or tablet.
⚡ Battery-free – how it works: put the scanner back in the base after use – it recharges in seconds and holds its charge for hours, so a scanner left out of the base during a break does not stop work. Two configurable recharge alerts remind the operator to return it. The battery-free version is designed for intermittent scanning, such as self-checkouts or as a secondary scanner next to an in-counter (bioptic) scanner; for continuous cordless scanning all day, choose a battery version (see the comparison table below).
🔋 Wireless (Qi) charging: the scanner and the charging cup have no exposed metal contacts, which reduces failures caused by corrosion and contact wear and makes cleaning easier. Contactless scanners charge only in a contactless cup – as spare power packs, use the contactless versions (BAT-SCN11WC, SUPCAP-SCN11WC).
🔌 No power supply is needed with the USB cable – the base is powered from the USB port. For the fastest charging (10 W) and for RS232 connections, Honeywell offers the optional 5 V / 3 A power supply 46-00536-6 (EU plug) – available on request.
Key Features
- Standard Range (SR) optics – a versatile all-rounder that reads everyday 1D and 2D codes from close up to more than 1 m (20 mil Code 39).
- Superior scanning performance – reads damaged, poorly printed and low-contrast barcodes (down to 15% print contrast), on labels and on phone screens.
- Green-dot aimer – precise targeting that speeds up scanning and improves accuracy.
- Reads more than barcodes – 1D, PDF417, 2D, Postal, DotCode, Digimarc and OCR (depending on configuration).
- Cordless Bluetooth® freedom – Bluetooth 4.2 with adaptive frequency hopping (Class 1, up to 100 m line of sight; BLE available) lets associates move freely around the POS, conveyor and customers; up to 7 scanners can share one base.
- Battery-free technology – a super-capacitor replaces the battery: a full charge takes under 60 seconds with a power supply or a powered USB port (under 4 minutes on a standard USB port), powers about 450 scans and lasts 500,000 charge cycles with a 5-year warranty – no battery maintenance, replacement or disposal.
- One platform, two power options – the 1962 accepts either a Li-ion battery or a battery-free super-capacitor, so mixed fleets can share the same bases; two configurable recharge alerts and a find-my-scanner button keep scanners ready and easy to locate.
- Wireless (Qi) charging – contactless charging without exposed metal contacts reduces failures due to corrosion and wear – ideal for busy, frequently cleaned checkouts; the base also holds the scanner upright for hands-free scanning.
- Disinfectant-ready housing – withstands regular cleaning with a wide range of disinfectants, ideal for pharmacies, healthcare and shared workstations.
- Built to last – engineered for 50 drops from 1.8 m to concrete and 2,000 tumbles at 0.5 m, IP52 sealed, with a 3-year Honeywell factory warranty.
- Easy management – Honeywell Scanner Management Utility (SMU) automates deployment and updates; Operational Intelligence provides device insights.
Ideal Applications
- Retail point of sale, service desks and mobile tickets or coupons on phone screens
- Busy retail checkouts and conveyor lanes – scan bulky items in the cart without lifting them
- Self-checkouts and secondary scanning next to an in-counter (bioptic) scanner
- Pharmacies, healthcare desks and other frequently cleaned workplaces
- Warehousing, logistics and shipping/receiving
