The Zebra DS8288 is the cordless Bluetooth® model of Zebra's next-generation premium DS82 Series of handheld scanners. Its exclusive 2 MP sensor with PRZM Intelligent Imaging reads virtually every 1D and 2D barcode quickly and at the first attempt – on paper labels and phone screens, Digimarc and GS1 Digital Link codes, and even damaged or poorly printed codes – and reads UPC codes from up to 70 cm away. Bluetooth 5.2 (Class 1) gives you up to 100 m of freedom from the cradle, the scanner charges contactlessly in its CR8288 cradle, and it is backed by a 3-year (36-month) Zebra warranty. This version, DS8288-SR4F004VMWW, comes in Midnight Black, is powered by the 3,500 mAh PowerPrecision+ battery and is supplied as the scanner only – no cradle and no cable are included. It is Apple MFi certified for direct Bluetooth connection to iPhone and iPad apps.

• Exclusive 2 MP sensor – a 1600 × 1200 pixel imager with Zebra PRZM Intelligent Imaging captures more barcodes, faster and with greater accuracy – including damaged, dirty, poorly printed and low-contrast codes – and is ready for third-party vision applications at the POS.
• Reads 1D, 2D, Digimarc and GS1 Digital Link codes – QR codes, Data Matrix, PDF417 and more, from paper labels and from phone or tablet screens (e-coupons, loyalty cards, mobile tickets); a single trigger pull reads both a traditional UPC and a 2D Digital Link code on the same pack.

• Cordless Bluetooth® freedom – Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE and Class 1 range of up to 100 m from the cradle; the scanner can also pair directly with Bluetooth PCs, tablets and smartphones (HID and Serial Port profiles).
• Swappable power – battery or PowerCap – choose the 3,500 mAh PowerPrecision+ battery (up to 100,000 scans per charge – more than three days of around-the-clock scanning, with battery health metrics) or the PowerCap supercapacitor (up to 6,000 scans per charge, 100 scans after just 35 seconds in the cradle, no battery to maintain or dispose of). Both can be swapped on any DS8288 at any time, and a dedicated power gauge shows the charge level at a glance.
• Maintenance-free contactless charging – the scanner charges inductively in the CR8288 standard cradle (counter or wall) or presentation cradle (hands-free): no charging contacts to clean, corrode or wear out, for a longer life of scanner and cradle.
• Never lose a cordless scanner – Zebra's Virtual Tether alerts on both scanner and cradle if the scanner is taken out of range or left out of the cradle too long, and the cradle's paging button locates a misplaced scanner instantly.
• Multi-function button – a customisable capacitive second trigger with haptic feedback, e.g. to switch between POS and returns applications with a single press.
• Intelligent illumination – in hands-free mode, infrared object detection switches the warm white illumination on only when an item is presented: more comfortable for staff and customers, and lower power consumption.
• Clear good-read feedback – Direct Decode Indicator, good-decode and rear-view LEDs, an adjustable speaker and vibration (haptic) feedback confirm every scan, even in a noisy store.
• Easy to deploy – the cradle connects to the host via USB or RS232 (auto-host detection) and also has a USB-C port; supports more than 90 international keyboards and is FIPS 140-3 certified.
• Built to last – designed to survive 1.8 m drops to concrete and 2,000 tumbles, IP52 sealed against dust and spills, with a deeply recessed scan window that resists smudges and scratches; the scanner and cradle carry a 36-month Zebra warranty.
